Heya wolfies!

Got a couple of modifications to the Waitlist process to update everyone on, if you are currently on the waitlist, or are thinking of joining it, please familiarize yourself with these changes!

Design pre-reviews will no longer be offered to non-members.

With a list 200 names and growing, we get a lot of design review requests! We’ve found, however, that many of the designs being pre-reviewed never end up in the group. There are many reasons for this - sometimes a waitlister loses interest and drops out, or finds another design they like better, and sometimes when they reach the top of the list and their name is called, the pack they’d intended to join is closed, so they opt to create an entirely new character to join with.

Design reviews are one of the more time-intensive staff duties, so in an effort to streamline the process, we have decided to restrict design reviews to current members and new members whose names have been called up on the waitlist! When space opens up and new members are invited, you will still have 2 weeks to submit a character for official review! We just won’t be offering preliminary critiques on any designs that are not imminently joining DotW! C:

With this change we are confident that pending design reviews will be answered faster and with better feedback!

Seasonal waitlist washes will be reduced to two-weeks.

Since its implementation, the waitlist has steadily grown in size. Most people wait for at least a year, if not longer, for the chance to join. Overall, the waitlist has worked very well! DotW loses considerably fewer members each month to inactivity. In 2017 we had 30% fewer dropouts than 2016! In the past four months, only one new space has opened up as a result of failed activity checks. And though that’s fantastic - the best activity streak DotW has ever had - it also means the rest of the names on the waitlist are having to wait even longer to reach the top, as open space becomes less frequent.

The waitlist, on the other hand, is lagging a bit! Names in the top 100 rarely wash out. However, several of the names which reach the top of the list are missing their join invitation deadlines, even two or three times consecutively! This throws a wrench into the invitation line as staff has to shuffle through a handful of “active but inactive” waitlist names in order to reach someone who is ready to join.

As a result, we’ve decided to try a shorter washing period, to see if this improves the response level of invitees! Washes will still take place in March, June, September, and December. But instead of lasting the entire month, they will only last the first two weeks of the month! Make sure to answer those wash journals as soon as they’re up!

If you are on the waitlist and will be unable to access dA to respond to an upcoming wash, note the group before the wash.

We can keep record of this for you so you don’t lose your place due to extraneous circumstance! This is only offered once a year per waitlister, please make every effort to respond to the washes and keep your place!
