Build: His face is slim and long, with sharp, slightly squinted eyes and long cheek fur. He's quite lanky, with long legs that are just on the thin side, but not overly so. Despite being a tall wolf, he's not lacking in muscle, which gives him an attractive and lean look. You can easily see the muscle moving beneath his thin coat when he runs. Laur is light of foot, and his posture is immaculate, giving him an air of regality.

Laur is reliable – ask him for a favour and he’ll get it done, no questions asked. He takes pride in his productivity, and works efficiently, always striving to create something immaculate. Laur is poised in his work, and you will never see him frazzled about any Medicine Keeper task.

Laur is loyal to a T, and will stick by someone’s side through thick and thin. It takes a lot to shake him off, but once someone has done Laur wrong one time too many, he’s done with them. He becomes resentful of whoever has hurt him, and his temper flares when they’re mentioned in a conversation.

Laur is insecure about himself and his personality, knowing that his abrasive and awkward traits don’t fit the norm. He can be brutally honest, often hurting other’s feelings without intending to.

Obsessive behavior has followed Laur since he was a pup, making him delve far into subjects of interest. He is curious, and learning new things brings him joy. Laur is highly intelligent, and if speaking about one of his obsessions, such as botany or astronomy, he will know everything there possibly is to know about the subject. 

Pre-Group History: 

Pup
The alpha pair’s first-born son, in a litter of three boys. Laur was destined to become the future alpha of the great southern pack of Vaterum. He spent the first six months of his life by his mother’s side, growing up with his brothers. It was clear from the start that the young prince was different, and perhaps not in the way his father would have liked.

Laur was always quiet, and wouldn’t talk unless spoken to. He rarely joined his brothers in playing. The few times they could persuade him to join in, Laur would be much too rough, accidentally hurting his brothers without realizing it – not out of menace, but because he just didn’t quite understand what playing really meant. Laur himself wasn’t aware that he was doing anything wrong, and would become confused as his brothers pushed him away and went to play elsewhere, without him.

So, instead of playing with his brothers, the young wolf would go off and collect plants, that he could bring back to the den for his mother, Nariko, to see. Plants were after all much more interesting than roughhousing with his siblings.

These things concerned Laur’s father, Regis. His first-born shouldn’t be out picking flowers or struggling to figure out how to play. He should be showing strength and natural leadership.

Juvenile
As Laur reached six months of age, his father started putting more responsibility on him – he was after all supposed to be the next great alpha. This meant no more time for wandering the territory in silence and studying plants. He was now to apprenticed by the alpha himself. Laur had to attend meetings, learn the culture and history of the pack by heart, and know about all of Vaterum’s previous, current, and future relationships with other packs, and their importance.

Laur’s juvenile months weren’t his best. He hated the things his apprenticeship entitled, and he had no desire to become the next alpha of Vaterum. He wouldn’t pay much attention to his father’s lessons, instead looking longingly towards the healer’s den, where the strong scent of dried herbs came from. He could often glimpse the pack’s healer working in her den, and he longed to be at her side and learn everything he could about botany. His father would catch him in his daydreams and snarl at him, giving his son a rough cuff around the ear, telling him to pay attention to things that actually mattered.

During his hours off from training, Laur would sit outside the healer’s den, peeking in and watching as the healer worked with swift, nimble paws. He would often go into the woods to collect herbs for her, leaving them by the entrance to the den. Sometimes Laur was even lucky enough to be invited into the healer’s den, where she would teach him a few things.

Young Adult
Laur continued his apprenticeship to become alpha, growing increasingly miserable and distant. His relationship with his father was anything but good, the two often butting heads in temperamental flare-ups.

But, not long after Laur’s first birthday, a sickness runs rampant in the pack. Within a month three wolves pass away, and several more fall ill. The sickness is identified as the deadly Nigrum Tussis, or Black Cough, and the healer informs her packmates that she will have to leave, traveling to one of Vaterum’s allying packs where the cure grows. Without an official apprentice, she leaves Laur in charge of healing while she is away, trusting that he has learnt enough. His father begrudgingly agrees, letting his son act as temporary healer and take a break from his other duties.

Laur’s elation at finally being able to do what he loves quickly wears off. He’s never seen sickness like this before, and the rising death toll scares him. He’s able to ease some of the symptoms, but the sickness is ruthless and without the cure, his patients slowly die.

As time passes, Laur’s worries increase. The healer was supposed to be back within a month, but Laur fears the worst as she fails to return. Yet more wolves die, and when Laur wakes up to find his mother’s cold body, part of him dies. He spends the following days alone, wandering around the dense woods of the territory. When he returns to the main den site, his deathly sick father is waiting for him. They have a heated argument, Regis accusing Laur of bringing the sickness to the pack and killing his own mother, before spitting the words of banishment at his son. Laur hisses a reply, his words dripping with contempt, before turning around and walking away, leaving the pack to die.

He travels alone for almost a full year, using the Northern Star as his only guide. It leads him to the edges of a pack, where he spends a few days wandering close to the borders, feeling a strong sense of yearning, as if the lands before him are calling out to him, inviting him to enter. After debating with himself for a while, Laur decides it would do him good to try and settle down. He settles down by the border, waiting for a patrol to spot him and take him to the alpha of the pack.

Other: Laur is autistic and shows some of the common traits such as obsessive behaviour and struggling with social situations. Please keep in mind that he is however a fictional character, and he does not portray the realistic autistic community! Laur is special in the sense that he has a mental diagnosis, more specifically Asperger’s Syndrome, which is a form of Autism.
Autism is a learning disability that affects everyone differently. In Laur’s case it means that he struggles greatly with social situations, has obsessive behavior, and is extremely sensitive to noise, light, smells and touch.
In social situations, Laur may say or do things that are not typically accepted as normal. He is abrasive, and will often say or do things that end up confusing others, or hurting other’s feelings. He does not do these things out of malice. Laur is unaware of the consequences his actions may have.
Obsessions are a common trait found with autistic people. Laur has had several obsessions throughout his life, but the two major ones being botany and astronomy. His obsessions result in spending hours studying and learning everything there is to learn ab
